What started as a response to connections lost and communities fragmented during the COVID-19 pandemic… has since evolved into a global story of collaboration!

It Starts With A Single Tile

The base for the project is a shape that I engineered to fit perfectly with itself in every direction. It’s a simple system that ensures no matter how many people join in, the final piece comes together as something beautiful and unified. While tiles can be finished by a single artist… the message is incredible when there are hundreds of contributors responding to a common theme.

Connect Your Story

Tiles can be assembled to form a permanent collection or they can stay with the contributors as a symbol of how each tile is an essential piece no matter how distant and wide spread the community may be. Either way, the pieces represent everyone’s individual importance to the whole and, the mosaic will grow and evolve as new connections are made.

YEAR ONE: WATERLOO REGION (2021)

With assist from Cam Turner, the first set of Belong Together tiles were distributed across the Waterloo Region.

Over 19,000 Tiles Distributed!

The project connected thousands and many are still on display in schools, churches, homes and community centres across the Region.

The Story of Belonging: Local Roots, Global Connection

I started Belong Together because I saw a profound need for us to feel connected again. What began as a small local project in Waterloo, Ontario has grown into a global story of using art to bridge the gap between individual creativity and community belonging.
